Description

"To be a youthworker is to be a missionary in cultures that are in fast departure" is a sentence that can often be heard in context of youth management. But how can we resolve this "missionary challenge" in a practical way?

The course will go through an introduction into the mission theology, mission history, the current debate on "missionary" churches, different management models together with concrete segmentanalyzing try to equip the students to lead and run a mission amongst youth today.

Goals

The goal of the course is through introduction obtain:

•  Mission theology main-thinking.

•  Mission historical "cases".

•  The current debate regarding "Missional Church".

•  Social work with youth.

•  Missionary leadership, to give an understanding for and prepare in connection to establishing and leading a so-called "outside-in-work" in youthwork that does not have "evangelic" evidence.

Lectures, study groups, group work, study plans and fieldstudies.

Continuing evaluation:

Through lob-book - that has as starting point a concrete context of where the students have their practice, the read literature and the problem situations that come with the educating - the students shall show their ability to describe and analyze the churches current missionary challenges in meetings with the youth from "our time". These reflections will be presented and discussed in the studygroups.

End evaluation:

With as starting point the read literature and fieldstudies, the students will work out a grounded project proposal that contains the basis of values and goals as well as a concrete strategy in connection to the establishing of a missionary project which has a goal the youth cultures.
